I've been obsessing about Nightmare the video board game for NO GOOD REASON over the last few weeks and wanted to do this re-imagining of The Gatekeeper, the sketch for which had been sitting in my book for quite a while. And tonight's the night!

Ok now watercolours have never been my strong suit, but how did you keep the stain around the keys and chains so smoooooooth?
My shit always ends up so direly messy - I know there's stuff you can use (like a wax or something) to prevent the paint from coating fine areas of details, but I'd probably just go digital, lacking those. What's your method?
Sorry! Totally missed your question! I cheated. It's digital. You can buy a latex paint for that which peels off the paper but I never plan well enough in advance what a picture is supposed to look like to know where all the white bits are going to go =)
