The MEDVSA

Totally on this gods and monsters thing and totally enamoured with my new mostest favoritest texturing trick. One of these days, I will learn discretion with it. But for now everything must be textured!

**EDIT**

I made a couple changes, notably the sword and plume which were bugging me in the previous version. Took a little more red out and upped the contrast.

Oh so that's the curly tail. Yes, it really does make it look better.

For some reason it bugs me that the black is not really black. Perhaps it's just the contrast with the black BG of your blog that makes it look washed-out... Any reason you went with dark grey?

Funny, I've been battling that myself. I think the decision was ultimately because I'm worried about my texturing becoming a trick and I do find I have an over-reliance on black so in photoshop, while playing around, it appealed to me to wash it out slightly to give it a maybe-kinda-faded look. It's good to have second impressions on it. Perhaps I'll revise it in the near future. I'd look at the PSD now but I'm WAY too drunk at the present. Why am I responding to posts on my blog in such a state? Couldn't tell ya. Same reason I do most of my email writing to long-distance friends after a night of carousing.

I was trying to figure out for a while why medusa was bugging me. You'll be happy to hear I fugured it out.
Should mention, however, that this is badass.
Medusa head looks startlingly like the upside down triangle head character that 7-up had in the 90's. He even had the same hair.
This is jus something that bothered me. Otherwise this is RADICAL. And it's probably still rad despite my complaint about the 7-Up character.

Ooh, the new one reads a lot better with Perseus in greater contrast to the dark area behind him. And his sword looks cooler. Zigzags make it extra sharp.

Hahaha! Yeah she's totally fido dido.

sass gordon said...

FIDO DIDO!!! yeah. man you remember some bizarre stuff sometimes.

Good shit.

Sean Covernton said...

Fido Dido isn't weird shit. Everyone who grew up in the early 90's knows fido dido.... don't they?

Tealin said...

I remember Fido Dido. Do you remember the Noid? At least none of your characters look like rip-offs of him.

Sean Covernton said...

I don't remember the Noid, but I'm aware of him from a family guy reference.

And ouch. =)

Sorry...yeah, everyone should remeber Fid Dido...just not his NAME necessarily. I was just amazed you got the name so easily.

Although after it was mentioned it seemed kinda obvious. I couldn't remember though OK?!!!

Dammit get off my back.

p.s. double ouch

p.p.s. harsh Sarah...harsh
